Parents concerned about the amount of time their child is roaming the internet are being thrown a lifeline with the launch of new software which puts parents firmly back in control of their child’s computer use.
Called EducateMe, the Queensland-developed software restores the balance in children’s computer use by letting parents set a defined amount of daily “play time” their child is allowed.
During this “play time” the child can access all programs, games and websites. But once this “play time” is used, their child can then only access programs and websites their parents have selected as being “educational” (eg Microsoft Word, Mathletics etc).
Brainstorm Solutions CEO Roger Manu said EducateMe limited the amount of time children were free to roam the net.
He said it empowered parents to better manage their children’s computer use and encourage education and learning.
